Job Overview

We are seeking a professional and experienced HGV Driver Class 1 to join our transportation team. This role involves route driving, delivery, shuttle services, and potentially moving heavy equipment or freight across various locations. The position requires a strong focus on safety, compliance with transportation regulations, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with dispatch and clients.

Duties

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with legal standards. Load and unload freight or equipment using appropriate tools such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary. Deliver goods or passengers efficiently across assigned routes while adhering to schedules and traffic laws. Assist with moving heavy equipment or freight as required. Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance reports. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit. Follow all safety protocols related to commercial vehicle operation and cargo handling.

Skills

Proven experience in commercial driving, including route driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driver roles. Knowledge of mechanical systems related to trucks and trailers; ability to perform basic troubleshooting is advantageous. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles safely and efficiently. Experience with freight handling, load & unload procedures, forklift operation, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment. Strong communication skills for clear interaction with dispatchers and clients. Knowledge of safety regulations governing commercial vehicle operation and cargo security. Additional skills such as heavy equipment operation or military driving experience are considered a plus.
