Job Purpose

Provide an efficient transport service, distributing customer orders and collections whilst keeping accurate records and delivering excellent customer service.

Fundamental Duties & Responsibilities

Liaising with the Transport co-ordinator to plan the most efficient and cost-effective routes for transportation, taking into consideration factors such as distance, traffic and fuel costs whilst also maintaining legal van weights to mitigate future issues.

Operating the Class 2 HGV vehicle safely and efficiently, adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements related to weight limits, driving hours, and road safety

Adhering to all legal road transport regulations, including tachograph regulations, driver hours, and rest periods, ensuring compliance with road safety standards

Conducting regular and accurate temperatures checks of products on the van and completing documentation to maintain the records and company accountability

Processing all relevant checks using transport software including updating planned route using GPS navigation apps and knowledge of the area to deliver products to customers on time and in excellent condition

Communicating with relevant departments any delays or issues that may result in late or missed deliveries to allow the customer to be kept updated at all times and if necessary alternative solutions arranged

Providing outstanding customer service and developing relationships by interacting in a friendly and professional manner whilst representing the company's high standards.

Safely unloading products at the delivery destination and obtaining necessary authorisation signatures from customers to ensure accurate records of deliveries

Collecting monies owed by independent customers for deliveries where necessary and ensuring these are returned to depot without any discrepancies to the company.

Undertaking ongoing vehicle maintenance, the includes but is not limited to keeping the vehicles clean and tidy, safety checks to ensure a high standard of cleanliness to represent the company.

Appling safety awareness in tasks particularly when driving in inclement weather such as snow to prevent damage or injury to yourself, the vehicle, or others.

Significant driving experience, specifically multi drops and multi products.

Understanding of product knowledge, delivery processes, geographical experience and road safety compliance.

Understanding of transport systems.

Developed ability to organize the working day,

Highly Developed customer service skills and communication skills.

Unsociable hours and varied start times. Lone working. cold temperatures in vans and sometimes at sites.

DBS compliant.

Qualifications and Specific Training

Desirable - Manual Handling, Food Safety Awareness (In house training mandatory)

Mandatory - Class 2 Driving License

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Significant driving experience, specifically multi drops and multi products

Understanding of product knowledge, delivery processes, geographical experience and road safety compliance.

Understanding of transport systems.

Developed ability to organize the working day,

Highly Developed customer service skills and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

DBS compliant.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 15.87 per hour

Expected hours: 50 per week
