Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 32t HGV Driver to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting a variety of construction materials, tools, and heavy equipment, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the assigned vehicle in optimal condition. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of our construction projects, requiring a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of our 32t HGV Driver include:

Operating commercial vehicles up to and over 7.5 tonnes, specifically 32t rigid trucks, articulated lorries, and trailer wagons, to transport materials and equipment to construction sites. Loading and unloading cargo using lorry crane, which may involve supervising or helping with the process and ensuring loads are safely secured. Performing routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance, such as checking oil, tires, brakes, and reporting any defects, accidents, or violations. This also involves keeping the vehicle clean and well-maintained in accordance with state and federal regulations. Planning and adjusting routes based on delivery schedules, traffic reports, and changing conditions, utilizing GPS systems and other navigation devices to ensure timely delivery and minimize fuel consumption. Completing all necessary delivery paperwork, maintaining accurate logbooks of working hours, vehicle service, and fuel/toll receipts, and obtaining receipts or signatures for delivered goods. Adhering strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies, especially when driving on public roads and within construction sites. Manoeuvring trucks into loading or unloading positions, often following signals from loading crews. Communicating effectively with transport managers, dispatchers, and site personnel to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues.
