Walker Groundworks are seeking a skilled HGV & Plant Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with a wide variety of heavy machinery. This role requires a commitment to safety and quality, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards. This role will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and running an organised workshop.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on HGV's, Trailers & Heavy plant to identify issues. Perform repairs, maintenance and servicing on a wide variety of equipment. Execute fabrication and welding tasks as required, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored properly. Perform heavy lifting tasks as required during repairs or maintenance.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge of HGV,s & Heavy plant and associated components. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. Experience with fabrication techniques and soldering processes. Familiarity with electrical systems and ability to read schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in the course of duties. Strong communication skills for effective customer service interactions. A fully kitted out service van will be provided for breakdowns and on site maintenance, servicing and inspections will be carried out in our recently completed workshop with inspection pit and brake rollers. We run a fleet of scania lorries with various types of trailers, john deere forestry machinery and various types of heavy plant. Past experience of these types of equipment would be a great benefit which will be reflected in the wage.

Pay: 50,000.00-75,000.00 per year
