HGV Mechanic - Van & Fuel Supplied

Location: New Cumnock, Ayrshire

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Hourly paid

Salary: 42,000 - 54,000 (Dependent on hours worked)

Overtime paid at time and a half after 8 hours (Mon-Fri) and on Saturdays

Expected Hours: 45-55 per week

HGV Mechanic

to join our experienced team of mechanics, welders, and yard operatives.

We're ideally looking for someone with an

HGV or motor trade background

, though candidates from the

car or agricultural sectors

are welcome and will be supported to progress within the role.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on role primarily based at our workshop in

New Cumnock

, with additional mobile duties to attend roadside breakdowns and on-site repairs. You will be working on a diverse fleet, including:

Articulated and rigid HGVs Step-frame and low-bed trailers Vans and agricultural equipment (e.g., tractors) Plant and construction equipment

Key Responsibilities

Carry out vehicle diagnostics and repairs Attend breakdowns and perform roadside repairs Undertake preventative maintenance and defect control Overhaul and repair vehicles and plant machinery Assist with repairs following dealer inspections (chargeable defects) Work collaboratively with mechanics and yard staff

Qualifications & Experience

Recognised trade qualifications (e.g.,

NVQ

,

City & Guilds

or equivalent) Previous experience as a

mechanic

, preferably within

HGV

,

plant

,

motor

, or

agricultural

sectors Strong knowledge of modern vehicle systems and diagnostics Full UK driving licence required
