A Driver is responsible for loading the catering consignment(s) onto a truck as per the daily load plan and flight schedule, and unloading the vehicle(s) at the unit. The driver must check that the load is safe and secure prior to driving the truck to the airfield via a designated route. Aircraft engagement must be completed as per customer and ramp procedures and guidelines. Catering and de-catering of aircraft must follow each customer's precision time schedule. All activities must be completed according to customer guidelines, on time, and in compliance with all safety and security regulations. The role demands excellent service standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Check your vehicle before use at the start of your shift (standard safety and security protocol).
Report any vehicle defects or damage to your team leader.
Ensure vehicle is security-checked and sealed by authorised staff before departure with correct documentation.
Comply with food safety and hygiene protocols; ensure refrigeration is on and maintaining required temperatures.
Load/unload catering from truck and aircraft safely and in a timely manner, following airport and company procedures.
Load aircraft according to galley plans and company policy.
Drive in compliance with DVLA, local, and airport regulations.
Engage aircraft strictly following training--no deviation.
Hand over security paperwork and get the delivery note signed by the crew.
Return catering to the unit and offload into the relevant department.
Use the tachograph correctly for every trip in line with road traffic regulations.
Operate high loader vehicles as trained and per H&S procedures.
Deliver to and collect from various UK destinations as needed.
Report all incidents and accidents to your line manager.
Wear correct uniform and required PPE at all times.
Keep vehicles clean and tidy.
Refuel vehicles as required.
Perform minor vehicle maintenance (e.g., top up screen wash, AdBlue).
Work in other areas as needed, including administration, bond store, equipment pack, production, and stores.
Follow all unit safety measures.
Maintain compliance with inflight services security standards.
Follow the "clean as you go" policy.
Interact with colleagues and clients professionally at all times.
Follow all corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Comply with all QHSE policies and procedures.
Understand and follow Newrest's non-negotiables.
Report all accidents, hazards, and near misses as per Newrest requirements.
Adhere to updates in policies, procedures, and working practices.

Perform other duties as required by your manager.
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum 3 years of driving experience
Ability to work calmly under pressure
Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
Good literacy - verbal, written, and spoken
Operational awareness: HACCP, COSHH, DDA, Food Hygiene, H&S, DFT (role specific)
Flexibility to work across all areas of the business
Class 2 Driving Licence
Work-Related Circumstances
Must be flexible--able and willing to work overtime, weekends, bank holidays, and evenings to meet demand
Consider shift patterns and transport links--proximity to site may be a factor
Work includes indoor and outdoor activity, with varying weather conditions
Physical/Health Requirements
Must be able to access all public areas, stairwells, confined spaces, and work at height
Involves lifting heavy/bulky items in line with manual handling guidelines
Essential Requirements
Valid UK Class C driving licence, CPC qualification, and digital tachograph
Must wear correct uniform, visible name badge, and PPE at all times
Complete all paperwork to required standard and deadlines
Adhere to training and standards in COSHH, HACCP, DFT, DVLA, and food safety
Carry out other duties as requested by management
