We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our dedicated maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Duties
Conduct thorough inspections of HGVs to identify faults and issues.
Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
Utilise fabrication, welding, soldering, and schematics to carry out complex repairs.
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to dismantle, repair, and assemble vehicle components.
Maintain accurate records of work carried out and parts used.
Assist with the installation of specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts on vehicles.
Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Support ongoing maintenance programmes to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations.
Adhere to health and safety protocols during all maintenance activities involving heavy lifting or hazardous materials.
Experience
Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
Strong electrical experience with the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
Mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and suspension components.
Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
Experience repairing equipment such as excavators or forklifts is advantageous.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repairs or parts replacement.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on diagnostic accuracy.
Customer service experience is desirable for effective communication with clients regarding vehicle issues and solutions.
