Overview



- Signing bonus of 500.00 paid after 3-months employment, subject to relevant tax

- Access to company van for travel to work, or fuel card use for a personal vehicle to a maximum of 50.00 per month

- Weekday pay range between 18.00 and 20.00 per hour, depending on experience

- Weekend overtime rate of between 20.00 and 22.00, depending on experience

Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our team to perform vehicle maintenance and supervise our workshop activity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they are safe and compliant with regulations, whilst overseeing colleagues within the workshop. This role requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities



Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on HGVs to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, and electrical systems. Perform scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Oversee and manage the overall outputs and quality of the workshop activity, including colleagues' performance. This includes collaborating with other technicians and staff to ensure efficient workflow within the workshop. Maintain accurate records of work carried out, including parts used and time spent on repairs. Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment. Stay updated with industry developments and advancements in vehicle technology.

Skills



Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role is essential. Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Effective communication skills to liaise with colleagues and customers. Relevant qualifications in vehicle maintenance or engineering (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ). A valid driving licence is preferred; an HGV licence would be advantageous but not essential.
