Working Hours: As a am/pm cover driver you will be required to cover shifts as needed within the working week. Your shifts will run from Monday to Friday with optional weekend overtime available. Our am shifts start between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m and our afternoon shifts start between 10.00am and 12pm. Your standard working week will be a 50-hours, including a paid 1-hour lunch break each day. Flexibility is key when applying for this role due to the nature of how the operation is run.
Overall Role:
As a single manned crew, you will drive the company's HGV's in a professional and competent manner and be courteous to other road users at all times. You will be driving to planned collection locations and moving / emptying multiple commercial waste containers, ensuring all information is input into the onboard system and all paperwork is kept up to date and submitted daily. Alongside the day-to-day driving aspects you will also act as the depot supervisor assisting in all aspects of the management of the depot and its drivers to establish a positive and proactive workplace.
Key Responsibilities as driver:
Responsible for the implementation of the Lili Waste Health and Safety policy in all vehicle/fleet-related activities.
You will be responsible for ensuring all vehicle checks are undertaken within the company policies and procedures. This will include daily walk around checks, vehicle defect reporting and Nil defect returns.
Have a good understanding of DVSA regulations in terms of vehicle safety, graduated fixed penalties and tachograph use.
Operate within EU drivers' hours regulations which include adequate daily/weekly rest and maximum weekly driving time.
Operate within the Road Transport Working Time Directive (WTD).
You will be responsible for driving and operating company vehicles within an appropriate manner which includes safe and secure loading practices, safe driving and drive within the Highway Code and current UK speed limits.
Keeping vehicles clean and tidy at all times.
You will be expected to report any incidents or accidents however small immediately or as a minimum at the earliest convenience to the Operation's Team.
You will be expected to attend any training in-line with the role.
Key Responsibilities as Depot supervisor:
In addition to the driver responsibilities, you will also be required to:
Manage and maintain accurate bin stock quantities whilst ensuring adequate stock levels are always available.
Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of yard space and onsite facilities whilst reporting any maintenance requirements.
Managing stock levels for depot PPE and consumables.
Regular supervision of drivers within the depot ensuring key KPI indicators are being achieved, and an excellent level of service is maintained.
Liaise with the transport manager to proactively support with day-to-day operations including assistance in managing optimization of current and future rounds.
Conduct on site risk assessments for new and potential customers where required.
As well as all other reasonable management requests within the role.
Person Specification:
Must have appropriate driving licence indicating entitlement for the class of vehicle you are expected to drive.
Must have digital tachograph drivers' card & full driver CPC card.
Preferably waste industry and driver management experience
Good communications skill.
Must be a team player.
Must have a flexible personable approach with good people skills customer focused.
Proactive with a can-do attitude
