A High Dependency Ambulance Care Assistant is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.
Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their place of education, medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone, so it is vital to hold a full UK driving licence and to have a good degree of physical fitness.
We are looking for a SEND HDU Ambulance Care Assistant to support our service based in Evercreech. This role will be school term time and support with Patient Transport Services in between runs and holidays.
Location: Evercreech, Somerset
Contract: Permanent
Hours of work: Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday flexible between 06:00 and 20:00 (38 hours per week)

Role Responsibilities
  • Collecting patients and ensuring that the home environment is adequately secured after the departure of the patient and upon their return.
  • Administering basic first aid and oxygen and prescribed medication (training provided) as required during the course of work.
  • Completing all necessary vehicle and journey documentation
  • Be able to assist patients in walking, pushing them in a wheelchair and lifting them in and out of a vehicle/home.
  • Report facts concerning accidents or incidents to hospital personnel or law enforcement officials.
  • Earn and maintain appropriate certifications and medical certificates,
  • Ensure the vehicle and associated equipment is in a safe and clean condition at all times, reporting any defects to the appropriate manager.

Person Specification
  • Committed to patient care.
  • Must have FREC 3 qualification or be happy to train towards this.
  • Able to work flexibly due to unexpected circumstances i.e., Traffic or shift overruns.
  • Careful and considerate driver
  • Hold a clean driving licence for at least 2 years with no more than 3 points.
  • Have strong communication skills with a polite and friendly manner.
  • Be physically fit, as you will be required to move patients.
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a DVLA D4 Medical.
  • Have good knowledge of the local and surrounding areas within a 50-mile radius.
