About the role

This is a full-time position and predominately be remote working, delivering therapy via video or telephone but may require you to offer in person therapy in Surrey. You will be expected to work at least one late night per week (12pm - 8pm).



The salary is up to 45,000 per annum subject to qualifications and experience and you will also receive the Surrey Fringe Allowance on top.





We are looking for a qualified Counsellor to join our Surrey NHS Talking Therapies service. To apply for this role you must have at least an NVQ Level 4 Counselling qualification and

accreditation

with either BACP, UKCP or COCSA is essential. It is essential that you have completed

two years post-graduate qualification

in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or Counselling Psychology and meeting the required contact and supervising counselling hours.



Additionally we require you to have

successfully completed at least one of the specialised NICE-recommended training

such as Counselling for Depression, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy or Interpersonal Psychotherapy to deliver the modality as specified by the NHS Talking Therapy Manual.



You will assess clients for suitability for specific psychological intervention models specified by the NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression Manual. You will treat clients with a presenting problem of depression or recurrent depression by delivering one of the NICE-recommended time-limited psychological therapy for depression. Work may also involve liaising with other health and social care staff to support your clients.



As a High Intensity Counsellor, you will excel in your clinical practice to fulfil all aspects of the role.

Essential Skills



Recognised professional counselling qualification to a minimum of Diploma level (NVQ 4)

Registration and accreditation with BACP, UKCP or COSCA

Recognised professional qualification in at least one of the specialised NICE-recommended training such as Counselling for Depression, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy or Interpersonal Psychotherapy to deliver the modality as specified by the NHS Talking Therapy Manual

Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services

Demonstrable experience with routine outcome monitoring

Demonstrable experience of carrying out risk assessments within scope of practice

Understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care

Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Demonstrable understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post

Knowledge of safeguarding children and adults and other relevant legislation

Knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice and of working with the diverse range of groups and communities served.

Able to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users and in own personal and professional development and in supervision

Advance communication skills

Able to work within a team and foster good working relationships

Able to manage a clinical caseload effectively and meet performance targets

High level of enthusiasm and motivation
