What will be your primary role?
The primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain and repair electric power controlling equipment and/or distribution lines.
The successful applicant will serve as a member of an electrical team or line crew, performing basic checks for continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdowns and grounding. Whilst utilizing safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and clean working environment. You will also use various hand and power tools in this position.
This is a development position and may be hired at different levels depending on the qualifications and years of experience. Progressive education will be provided by the employer subject to conditions
Advanced Level: W-05 - Level 3 - City & Guilds/NVQ in electrical safety
Fully Qualified Level: W-06 - Level 3 - City & Guilds/NVQ in electrical safety + 1 year of specialized experience

Also known as the "Bloody Hundredth" conducts air refueling and combat support operations throughout the European and African area of responsibility. What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
2. Knowledge of electrical equipment/systems such as power cables, transformers, insulators; and of control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels; and of basic electrical theory such as Ohm's Law and series and parallel circuits.
3. Skill in reading commonly used electrical drawings and diagrams of distribution networks and equipment interconnections.
4. Skill in using and maintaining common electrical tools and test devices such as splicing sleeves, resin sealing compound, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and meggers.
5. Skill in basic checks for continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdowns, and grounds.
6. Ability to perform routine installation, maintenance, and repairs without more than normal supervision; and to operate equipment/systems safely.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a Fixed Schedule Mon-Fri 0800-1630 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
7. A pre-employment physical is required for this position and you must have the ability to discern colors and contrast.
8. The position requires the incumbent to hold a full UK driving license.
