Contract: Temporary (funded through additional funding) with potential to become permanent. Term time only + 5 INSET days



Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm



Salary: Grade 6, SCP 18 - 22 Actual Salary 27,095 - 28,953



Start Date: ASAP 2026

About the Role



We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4) to join our Autism Resource Base at St Mark's School. You will work closely with teachers and senior staff to support pupils with autism and additional needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

This is a highly rewarding role, where you will make a difference to pupils' daily experiences and long-term progress. In addition to providing direct support to pupils, the post includes line management responsibilities for other teaching assistants and the management of specialist resources.

Key Responsibilities:



Support pupils' learning, wellbeing, and development, including implementing strategies to support pupils' individual special educational needs as outlined in their profiles. Build positive relationships, promote inclusion, independence, and positive behaviour. Provide 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to pupils' individual needs. Provide constructive feedback and pastoral support to pupils. Assist with lesson planning, delivery, assessment, and classroom management. Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and achievement. Supervise whole classes or tutor groups when needed. Use ICT and other resources to enhance learning and pupil independence. Lead initiatives to develop pupils' literacy, numeracy, and key skills. Manage, mentor, and support teaching assistants.Liaise with teaching staff, lead team meetings, and represent support staff in relevant meetings.

What We're Looking For:



Essential:



HLTA qualification or equivalent teaching experience. Evidence of good basic education, particularly in English and Maths. Experience working with or caring for children with SEND. Understanding of child development, learning processes, and SEN statutory frameworks. Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of teaching assistants. Confident in using ICT to support learning. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Understanding of the national curriculum.

Desirable:



First aid training.
