to take a leading role within our fabrication workshop. This position is suited to an experienced, multiskilled practitioner who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from initial brief through to final delivery.
The role goes beyond machine operation alone. We are looking for someone who can confidently liaise with clients, interpret and manage design specifications, plan fabrication processes, organise materials and oversee production through to completion. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and to a high standard, working closely with both internal teams and external collaborators.
Key Responsibilities
Project Ownership & Coordination
Take responsibility for assigned projects from start to finish, including client correspondence, technical clarification and production planning
Review design specifications, drawings and files, identifying risks, improvements or fabrication considerations early in the process
Organise material orders, liaise with suppliers and manage stock requirements for ongoing projects
Digital Fabrication & Machining
Set up, programme, operate and maintain laser cutting machines, CNC routers and metal cutting equipment
Work confidently across a range of materials including metals, plastics and composites, ensuring accuracy and consistency
Hand Finishing & Assembly
Carry out high-quality hand finishing, assembly and preparation of components to client-ready standards
Oversee finishing quality across projects, ensuring outcomes meet both technical and aesthetic expectations
Workshop Leadership & Standards
Maintain high standards of organisation, cleanliness and safety within the workshop
Support and guide junior technicians or assistants when required, sharing knowledge and best practice
Quality Control
Conduct detailed checks on work in progress and completed components
Ensure all work meets Bronzewood's standards for precision, finish, durability and safety
Health & Safety
Lead by example in adhering to all health and safety procedures
Ensure safe operation of machinery, correct use of PPE and responsible handling of materials
About You
Extensive experience in a fabrication, signage or design-led workshop environment
Highly confident operating laser cutters, CNC machinery and metal cutting equipment
Strong technical understanding of fabrication processes and material behaviour
Comfortable managing projects independently and communicating directly with clients
Able to read, interpret and interrogate technical drawings and production files
Highly organised, proactive and solutions-focused
Strong sense of craftsmanship, ownership and pride in finished work
A genuine interest in design, making and material-led practice
