Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist (non Invasive)

Job Description


To perform and manage clinical physiology duties within the non-invasive and functional testing areas of cardiology, acting as the lead physiologist in this area. The post holder will provide specialist professional direction and expertise in the technical environment of non-invasive cardiology and will act as a resource within the department to provide expert and specialist advice.To be responsible for maintaining and developing standards of performance and competency within non-invasive and associated areas.The post-holder will continuously monitor day-to-day service delivery, and suggest/recommend actions for improvement to the relevant clinical manager.Main duties of the jobPost holder to perform the duties of a highly specialist independent practitioner, to competently perform a wide range of complex and highly complex specialised cardiac investigations in the non-invasive and invasive area; including exercise testing and Cardiopulmonary Exercise - functional MVO2 / autonomic testing / testing, ambulatory monitoring and analysis, interpretation and reporting of results.Specific areas include, but not restricted to:

  • Exercise stress testing with treadmill & bicycle
  • Functional cardiopulmonary exercise testing with MVO2 analysis
  • ECG & BP ambulatory monitoring, including 12 lead Holter.
  • Specialist ECG recording and analysis including High lead and SAECG's.
  • Invasive cardiology- Catheter lab (optional)
  • Implantable cardiac device implant and follow up including remote monitoring (optional)
To ensure appropriate and thorough documentation of all procedures on the Trust IT system (Sentinel and Epic), to record all aspects of the service.To act as an expert clinical role model and resource to staff in order to optimise quality of care delivery through facilitation of evidence based/best practice care.To demonstrate a high level of clinical competence in the care of cardiac patients and to support, develop and supervise staff in gaining clinical competence and confidence.To work clinically up to 90% of their total working hours as the service requires.About usThe department offers a wide range of services for patients with cardiac disease including congenital heart disease, inherited cardiac conditions and cardiac arrhythmia/syncope.   • Hold an ILS or ALS certificate
  • Be on the AHCS / PTP register or in the process of registration.
Desirable
  • Evidence of post graduate study in clinical or management area
  • Higher training qualification (ie Cert Ed, FAETC)
  • Professional registration with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist

  • Demonstrate relevant experience at specialist or higher level non-invasive cardiac procedures
  • Ability to work as a solo practitioner at a highly specialist level
