Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist (neurophysiology)

Job Description

As a qualified and experienced clinical physiologist in the field of neurophysiology, working at a centre of excellence you will provide a first class service with patient centred care, and appropriate planning and use of complex neurophysiological studies.



You will be working as an integral part of a team of 7 clinical physiologists, with supervisory responsibilities for more junior members of staff. In addition you should be able to work independently with respect to both performing tests, and troubleshooting equipment / recording problems.



We see adult patients (typically age 17yrs+, occasionally 15/16yrs) with a range of neurological +/- neuropsychiatric conditions. Much of the work is for comprehensive diagnostic assessment of patients with paroxysmal events, including loss of awareness / consciousness, convulsive movements, or altered behaviour.



As a department we encourage CPD and active participation in research and audit projects.



Maintain a high standard of professionalism when at work, with the patients, neurophysiology team, and the wider medical team at Chalfont.



Responsible for your own work, and where appropriate that of less experienced colleagues, ensuring its' integrity, and completeness.



Planning and performing complex neurophysiological studies including, video-EEG telemetry, routine, prolonged and sleep deprived EEGs with video, ambulatory EEGs, and home video-telemetry studies. At present we perform a limited number of PSGs, this is likely to increase in the future.



Participating in ward rounds, MDTs, and teaching sessions with both the immediate neurophysiology team, and the wider medical team.



Working within the trust's values of safety, kindness, teamwork, and improving to deliver quality patient care, collaborative working, and continual improvement of the neurophysiology service.



We are currently a team of 7 clinical physiologists from band 6 - 8b, we work 37.5hrs per week, typically Monday - Friday, although there is infrequent need for cover at weekends, usually in 7.5hr shifts between 08:30 - 18:00.



We work closely as a team, sharing opinions, and asking for help when needed. We work hard, and strive to do the best we can for our patients.
