To provide highly specialised care for patients with complex needs in the acute setting by taking an advanced role in the assessment and treatment of patients who may have diverse, acute or chronic presentation and highly complex physical and psychological conditions Undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge and skills from theoretical and practical experience. Using advanced skills determine a therapeutic diagnosis and provide treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner and ensure others do the same. To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team recognizing the skills and expertise of others. This will include organization and chairing of multi-disciplinary meetings, case conferences and family meetings where appropriate.
To provide leadership of qualified and unqualified staff through supervision, support & appraisal / review in line with KSF and Preceptorship principles To lead and undertake evidence-based audit to develop and enhance personal and teams clinical practice within their area. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice. To assist in the implementation of specific changes to clinical practice, or contribute to changes in service protocols resulting from audit findings. To regularly supervise more junior therapy staff, assistants, and students on practice placement.
To demonstrate flexibility in the provision of the service - this might include some cross-site or cross specialty working To work with the ATOMS Therapy Team Lead and the Inpatient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy manager and senior respiratory physiotherapists in ensuring a safe and competent On-call and Weekend service for Orthopaedics care is organised and delivered. To provide expert advice information and recommendations to Health and Social care professionals, carers and relatives in relation to your service To provide skilled team leadership and be responsible for operational management, team development, implementation of policy and policy changes in own clinical area and monitor standards of practice Contribute to the Trust Governance agenda including the delivery of safe, effective high quality care To work cross-professionally within competent skill base to provide trans-disciplinary therapy input, being aware of own-professional limitations Play a significant role, with the ATOMS Therapy Team Lead ,for the accurate and timely completion of Rehabilitation Prescriptions across the Trust including teaching and support for new starters Please refer to the attached  and Person Specification for a full list of role requirements and main responsibilities.
