An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly Therapies team at Velindre Cancer Service on a part-time basis (30 hours per week) as a Highly Specialist Head and Neck Speech and Language Therapist.
The Highly Specialist Head and Neck Speech and Language Therapist will work alongside the Speech and Language team and the Head and Neck multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high-quality service to their patient population. This will include working within the outpatient and multi-disciplinary clinic setting, in addition to ambulatory care and inpatients. The post holder will be responsible for the configuration of Speech and Language service provision for the Head and Neck population served by Velindre Cancer Service.
The post will also include leading the altered airways developments, as part of the MDT, across Velindre Cancer Centre. Alongside their clinical duties, the successful candidate will undertake service development, quality improvement projects and audit. They will also be responsible for undertaking teaching of other health care professionals and supervision of other Speech and Language Therapists and undergraduate students.
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual who is an adaptive team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Experience of working as a Speech & Language Therapist in adult services at a senior level, including experience relevant to Head and Neck cancer services and patients with altered airways, along with experience of working as a member of a specialist multi-disciplinary team is a requirement of this post.
The post holder will be a senior, independent and highly experienced practitioner providing speech and language therapy service to adults with disorders of communication and swallowing difficulties following a diagnosis of Head & Neck Cancer and/or other tumour sites, for patients undergoing oncological treatment from Velindre Cancer Service.
In addition, the successful candidate will need to be able to manage a complex clinical caseload, have excellent time management and prioritisation skills along with audit and research skills. Welsh speaking skills are desirable for this post, Welsh & English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
