Experience in a highways interface role on UK infrastructure projects.

Strong stakeholder management skills.

Good understanding of highways construction, traffic management, public highway adoption, utility crossing / reinstatement issues and contractual delivery.

Commercial awareness for monitoring cost, programme and risk associated with highways interface scope.

Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

Proactive and organised:

able to manage multiple stakeholders, rapid change and complex interfaces.

Knowledge of UK highways standards, traffic management legislation and utility / road interface best practice.

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) / SSSTS.

CSCS Card.

Full UK driving licence.

Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor.

NRSWA accreditation.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join a landmark clean-water infrastructure scheme that also involves significant highway and access infrastructure works to support the permanent scheme and temporary construction logistics. This presents a significant opportunity to deliver highway construction within a nationally significant infrastructure programme under a Tier 1 design-and-build contractor.As the Highways Agent, you will act as the lead point for highways & transport interface obligations for a specified package -- from design handover, through construction works, traffic management plans, utility coordination, reinstatement and final handover.



Key Responsibilities



Act as a point of contact for highways authorities (local highways teams, trunk road authorities, traffic regulation bodies) and the contractor's highways delivery team.

Coordinate the highway element of the project:

including but not limited to access junctions, road widening, passing bays, road upgrades, temporary bridges and temporary haul roads.

Ensure all highway works are planned and executed in line with contractual requirements, highway standards, and stakeholder obligations.

Coordinate and manage subcontractors and the supply chain to ensure safe systems of work are implemented in line with the Contractor's in-house requirements.

Manage the development and implementation of traffic management strategies.

Monitor compliance with highway design handover, ensure proper documentation, QA/inspection, record keeping, defects management and maintenance handover.

Liaise with onsite construction, utilities and highways works to align sequencing, minimise disruption and ensure safe, compliant interfaces.

Represent the contractor, as required, at highways authority meetings, escalate issues, negotiate approvals and maintain highways authority relationships.

Track cost, programme and quality status of highways-interface scope.

Maintain highways-related records:

site diaries, progress updates, traffic management logs, utility crossing records, reinstatement certifications and handover packs.

Ensure that sustainability, whole-life costs and value engineering are considered in highways access/roadworks as part of the overall scheme goals.
