We have several exciting opportunities for suitably qualified Highways Civil Engineers and Traffic Engineers to be part of the Highways Design and Commissioning team within the Major Projects service area of Hull City Council. The city is undergoing a transformation with substantial public and private sector investment in housing, capital infrastructure supporting leisure, culture and the environment and leading the way on renewable energy and flood resilience.
You will play a key role in leading infrastructure development needed to deliver our aspirations for clean economic growth and sustainable travel. You will be part of an award-winning Major Projects and Infrastructure team that is transforming the city with its proactive approach and partnership working.
You will work as part of the Design and Commissioning team and participate in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment with freedom to lead and implement key highway and traffic infrastructure schemes within Hull.
The successful candidates will be able to engage with a range of stakeholders, including residents and elected Members to deliver improvements to meet the needs of the city.

Responsibilities
:
Lead Highway and Traffic Design (from feasibility to implementation) of various schemes from highway maintenance, highway design, traffic, road safety and active travel schemes.
Preparing design calculations, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, contract documents (NEC4) and other project documentation as required.
Project management of Highways Civil and Traffic Engineering schemes including financial control of scheme budgets.
Provide specialist technical information to internal and external colleagues.
Site supervision of works (including surveying).
Compliance with H&S standards (CDM regulations).
You will have:
Degree or HNC Civil Engineering with relevant experience
In depth knowledge of highways design and / or traffic / road safety engineering.
Substantial experience of AutoCad drafting and relevant IT packages.
Good understanding and application of current highway design codes and standards
Good understanding of current health and safety legislation
Full UK driving license and ability to travel to sites.
