Cashelton Construction offers highway maintenance, improvements and repairs to local authorities.

Due to continued growth we are currently looking to recruit Highway Maintenance Operatives based from our Deddington depot.

We work a variety of schemes and the work varies from tarmac patches to kerbing, drainage reconstruction, sign works etc.

Position mainly involves tarmac patching. Operatives will normally work in small teams completing a variety of small carriageway repairs. Operatives must live in the local area and be able to complete out-of-hours standby works.

We will also carry out a variety of works including road sign repairs & maintenance, vegetation clearance and winter maintenance duties,

Immediate start Initial and ongoing training provided

Duties will include:

Setting up sites to Chapter 8 Standards;

Cutting, breaking and sweeping out carriageway defects;

Filling with tarmac, compacting and sealing patches;

Leaving site in a tidy condition and removing Chapter 8 signage.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate all of the plant and equipment necessary for the required disciplines for maintenance on Highways and Network; Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge; Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives; Maintain high technical standards; Attend toolbox talks and work briefings as required; Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills; Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works with special focus on sign installation and maintenance works; Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting; Correctly filling of defect books; Record drivers' hours; Follow Cashelton's H&S policy by ensuring yourself, others and the working environments are safe.

Requirements:

Clean driving license; Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers; A commitment to Health and Safety; Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy; Required experience at carrying out manual work; Required basic technical knowledge of vehicles and various plant; Out-of-hours standby works on a rotared basis CSCS card will be required - this can be organised by Cashelton

Desirable skills and qualifications:

Highways maintenance experience; Opportunity to assist in Winter Maintenance duties; Valid 7.5 ton or HGV class 2 licence; Some construction experience; Valid and current CPCS/ NPORS plant operative cards; Valid New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation.

All interviews are to be carried out from the Company's head office in Coventry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 125.00-140.00 per day
