What you'll be doing



As a

Highways Maintenance Operative - Pode Hole

you will have the following accountabilities:


Work from our Lincolnshire depot - Pode Hole, but may be required to work out of other depots on occasion as part of the Maintenance Contract team. Carry out a wide range of highways maintenance tasks across the Lincolnshire network, including routine and cyclical maintenance, minor civil works, temporary and permanent repairs, and making sites safe following incidents. Respond promptly to reactive and emergency call-outs (both in and out of normal hours) to keep the highway network safe and operational. Play a key role in delivering winter service operations, including gritting, snow clearance and other severe weather response activities. Operate a variety of plant, machinery and tools safely and efficiently, ensuring the right equipment and materials are available for each job. Complete all works to the highest health, safety and quality standards, actively embedding our "Zero Harm" culture and following the 4 Golden Rules at all times. Report near misses (Close Calls), unsafe acts/conditions and examples of good practice to continually improve safety on site. Receive and action jobs through handheld devices, accurately recording progress and completion details. Select the most effective working methods to get the job done right first time, on programme and within budget. Contribute to the profitability of the contract through the efficient use of time, materials and resources. Deliver excellent customer service to the public and stakeholders while working on the highway, always representing the company professionally.

Desirable experience (any of the following would be an advantage):




Carriageway pothole and patch repairs Highway civils maintenance Linear drainage works Ironwork installation and adjustment Concrete repairs and concreting Kerbing, block paving and slabbing Winter service operations (gritting) Traffic management implementation Operation of small plant and powered tools Full UK driving licence with network experience

Desirable qualifications and certifications:




Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works) qualification CSCS card Lantra T1/T2 or equivalent traffic management tickets Driver CPC Current First Aid certificate Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Banksman, Telehandler, Chainsaw tickets
