Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Hire Operative to join our team. This is a varied role that combines driving duties with hands-on labouring, installation work, FLT and warehouse tasks. The ideal candidate will be flexible, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Duties

Safely operate company vans to transport materials, equipment, and goods between sites. Ensure timely deliveries and collections while providing excellent customer service. Conduct daily vehicle checks, report defects, and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.

Labouring & Installation

Assist with general labouring tasks on-site, including moving materials, preparing work areas, and supporting tradespeople. Support installation tasks as required (e.g., fitting equipment, assembling components, setting up materials). Follow site instructions and adhere to health and safety procedures at all times.

Forklift & Warehouse Operations

Operate forklifts to move, load, and unload goods (training or certification preferred). Assist with manual loading and unloading of vehicles. Maintain organized storage areas and ensure stock is handled safely and efficiently.

General Duties

Support team members with various operational tasks as needed. Complete paperwork such as delivery notes, checklists, and stock records. Follow company policies, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.

Skills & Experience

Valid UK driving license (clean or minimal points preferred). Experience in a driving, labouring, warehouse, or installation role. Forklift license an advantage (counterbalance or reach), but training may be provided. Ability to lift and handle materials safely. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.

Personal Attributes

Good communication and teamwork skills. Punctual, organised, and able to work with minimal supervision. Safety-focused and compliant with procedures. Flexible and willing to take on varied tasks.
