Position with top historic racing team for a successful, dynamic no1 mechanic to lead on car preparation and on-event support.
Overview:
Sporting & Historic Car Engineers Limited is one of the most successful historic race teams in the UK, having won international races at every major historic event for over 30 years.
Now under new ownership, it is building up a new roster of clients and cars, retaining a focus on cars that are eligible for events staged at Goodwood and by Peter Auto. This season we are running several 2-litre 911s in the 2 Litre Cup, Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic and Spa Six Hours, a 1961 Ferrari 246 Dino SP at the Goodwood Revival and an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- work with Chief Mechanic, General Manager and Managing Director to manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines calmly
- lead on specific race car preparation at the workshop, working with existing senior staff, turning out cars at the highest possible level
- attend events and provide class-leading support and technical assistance
- prepare and operate cars legally and safely at all times
- represent the company as well as possible
- maintain time records and cost sheets, identify potential mechanical and process improvements
Skills & temperament:
- a fundamental passion for motorsport, historic racing and vehicle engineering
- 10 years minimum experience of historic racing
- good verbal and written communication skills
- full clean UK driving licence
- careful, responsible, outstanding attention to detail, hard-working, resilient, fun
