About the employer

We are seeking two compassionate, reliable, and respectful personal Assistants to provide one-on-one support for a female individual living with:

Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Personal assistants will be required to share the duties, with a total of 12 hours per week divided between them. The arrangement will involve working together to support specific activities on a weekly basis.

The role is to enable her to live independently and with dignity, both at home and in the community. Her mobility varies from walking, using a rollator or a manual wheelchair inside the house based on how she is on the day. She uses her foldable, lightweight wheelchair outside at all times.

This is a varied and rewarding role that includes emotional support, practical assistance, and help with daily living.

Additionally, as the individual is one of Jehovah's Witness, it is essential that the applicant is respectful of her religious beliefs and practices.

A valid driver's license and business insurance are essential for this role, as occasional driving for errands or appointments may be required.

Main Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Emotional Intelligence Social Support Provide gentle companionship and a calm presence. Support the client in managing daily routines and emotional wellbeing. Assist with outings or social activities (when desired), while being attuned to signs of fatigue or distress. Food Preparation and Nutrition: Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks in line with dietary needs. Assist with grocery shopping and kitchen organisation. Personal Care: Assist with some aspects of intimate personal care (washing, dressing, grooming) when needed. Maintain the individual's dignity and autonomy at all times. Household Tasks: Help with light domestic duties such as laundry, tidying, and basic cleaning. Support with maintaining a calm, safe, and clean environment. Health and Mobility: Be aware of fluctuating physical symptoms and energy levels due to FND and Chronic Fatigue. Provide practical support with movement and mobility as required (training provided if needed).
Essential Qualities:

Genuine empathy, patience, and emotional resilience. Respectful of boundaries, privacy, and autonomy. Understanding of or willingness to learn about EUPD, PTSD, and related health conditions. Ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations. Good communication skills and non-judgmental attitude. Respectful of the client's religious beliefs and practices as a Jehovah's Witness. Must hold a valid driver's license and have business insurance for driving the client to appointments or running errands when required. You must have your own car. You must speak fluent English
Desirable Experience:

Previous care or mental health support experience. Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches. First aid training or willingness to undergo training. Experience working with neurodivergent individuals or those with chronic illness.
Other Requirements:

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Female applicants only (as above). Right to work in the UK. References required.
Additional employment information

The successful applicant will be friendly, able to give empathetic support, while respecting the employer's independence but also able to take instruction.

A can-do attitude and aptitude to assist the employer with her varied interests are needed with a willingness to help her explore new activities, joining in when appropriate.

Must be flexible, trustworthy and active with a good sense of humour.
