We are seeking a passionate and skilled hockey specialist to join our PE department. The successful candidate will inspire pupils through expert hockey coaching and play an active role in the broader PE and games programme. They will have experience in delivering high-quality, engaging sessions that foster skill development and a love for sport.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES OF JOB:
Strive to be an excellent practitioner and lead by example.
Plan and lead engaging coaching sessions ensuring that all activities meet the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment.
Have a sound knowledge of subject.
Ensure good progression and continuity of hockey skills throughout the School.
Contribute to the coaching of other sports as required.
Keep up to date with new subject initiatives.
Assist in the organisation of departmental sporting events and matches.
Assist in delivering PE lessons across the school, appropriate to the needs of the child.
Be involved in school fixtures as a coach and/or referee at home and away venues.
Ensure equal access to the subject area for all pupils.
Encourage and promote fair play and sporting conduct at all times.
Design and implement comprehensive training sessions tailored to the needs of individual players and the team as a whole.
Educate players on game strategies, techniques, and rules to enhance their understanding of hockey.
Conduct regular assessments of player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Foster a supportive and motivating atmosphere that encourages player development and teamwork.
Organise practice schedules, team meetings, and competitive fixtures while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with other coaching staff to create a cohesive training environment that aligns with the club's objectives.
Maintain open communication with players, parents, and management regarding progress and areas for development.
Qualifications
- Level 1 (or higher) Hockey coaching qualification or equivalent experience
- Degree in Sport, Sports Coaching, or a related field (desirable)
- First Aid qualification (desirable)
Experience
- Experience coaching Hockey to children or young people
- Experience in officiating and/or working in a school
- Experience of planning and delivering training sessions
