Overview.

To be a key member of the home removal team reporting to the Branch Manager. To lead the team ensuring the home removal job is completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction. The HGV Removals Driver will pack customer items in their home, liaise with the customer. Facilitate the safe loading and securing of goods to and from the vehicle. In some circumstances this may be unsupervised therefore they must use their initiative to foresee any potential problems and solve them as they arise. Work will involve travel throughout UK and Europe for which subsistence allowance is provided.

Extensive work away from base with generous subsistence allowance paid.

Main Responsibilities

Extensive travel away from base throughout UK & Europe

Act as customer facing representative of the company

Lead the removal team on site

Safely drive and be responsible for the HGV vehicle

Vehicle defect checking and reporting

Comply with tachograph and WTD legislation

Lift and manoeuvre furniture and effects safely

To protect furniture as required with packing materials

To pack personal effects into suitable cartons with protection



Write inventories of goods moved / shipped

Complete paperwork for jobs correctly

Act as banksman for vehicle driver

To act and behave in accordance with Health and Safety Requirements

Be able to work aware from home within the UK

Be able to work away from home within Europe

To drive company transit van or car, as required

Personal Data

Physically fit

Lives local to branch

Legible handwriting and good verbal communication skills

Education & Training

HGV Driving Licence

Driver CPC Qualification card current

GSCE Maths and English or equivalent standard desirable.

Attended Basic Practical Course and passed assessment

Attended Advanced Packing Skills course passed assessment desirable.

Attended Fork Lift Truck training (desirable)

Practical Knowledge & Experience

Confident and courteous handling of customers

Good local geographic knowledge

Knowledge and compliance of Working Time Regulations

Ensuring all Company and legal instructions are complied with at all times

Government or other association organization security cleared (desirable where applicable)

Understanding of Health & Safety requirements / use of PPE

Manual Handling Training / Experience

Skills & Personal Attributes

High personal standards of appearance

Co-operative and flexible (to work any 5 out of 7 days)

Polite and courteous

Have a clean disciplinary record for the previous 12 months

Able to work efficiently unsupervised

Conscientious attitude towards work.

Good interpersonal skills.

Weekend working as directed.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: 34515 to 50,000+ OTE per year plus 40 (tax free) per night overnight subsistence allowance
