Job Description

Ottery Help Scheme is a long-established charity offering a wide range of support for our community across Ottery St Mary and District. Our Home Services are designed to enable clients to maintain their independence at home.

Home Services Assistants (HSAs) work mainly in client's homes. The job role includes: preparing clients for their return from hospital, shopping (with or without client), meal planning / preparation, light cleaning, laundry and bed-making, trips out (for social activities or for attending appointments), support with household paperwork and general organising. This role does NOT include personal care for clients.

Home Services Assistants are supported by our friendly office staff team including regular HSA team meetings and training opportunities.

No evening or weekend work.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check (Ottery Help Scheme will organise).

Driving (own car) essential. Mileage to client homes reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Key skills for the role include: reliability and flexibility, good relationship-building skills, a supportive and empathic approach, experience of working with older people, awareness of safeguarding and boundary issues.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.60 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week

Monday to Friday No weekends
