Job Details
The Children & Family Service has completed a service redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. The Early Help and Support Teams for Children Affected by Disability will deliver a range of earlier intervention services to children in need. As part of this offering families will have access to support workers based within the team but working out with normal office hours to enhance the support to families in need
Key tasks include:
Providing individualised support to children and young people with physical, learning, sensory, developmental disabilities, and neurodivergence.
Supporting children and young people with daily living activities in a respectful and dignified manner.
Promoting children's independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
Assist with and encourage play, learning, and developmental activities appropriate to the child's age and abilities.
Support children and young people to access community activities and outings safely.
Follow and implement care plans, support plans, and risk assessments.
Use positive behaviour support strategies to respond to emotional or behavioural needs.
Communicate effectively with children using appropriate methods ( eg visual aids, PECS)
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals
Maintain accurate daily records in line with organisational policies
Always ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of children
Attend training, supervision, and team meetings as required
Working with parents and carers to promote sleep and home routines
Providing families with periods of respite in accordance with the child's plan.
Providing crisis support for families in line with the child's plan.
Working alongside the Child Affected by Disability Team to prevent any breakdown in care
Skills Requirements
The individual should have: + Experience of supporting children or young people ideally those affected by disability.
+ Experience of children who may display challenging behaviour, evidencing an ability to use calm, positive, and consistent approaches.
+ Experience following care plans or support plans.
+ Experience communicating with children or young people with varied communication needs.
+ Experience maintaining records and reporting concerns clearly and accurately.
+ Experience of working as part of a team.
+ Partnership working skills
+ Ability to travel within Fife
+
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

If appointed, you must start your application
as soon as possible
so you're registered within the required six months.

If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
