Role Overview:
We are recruiting for a Care Worker / Healthcare Worker to work on a 1-2-1 basis supporting an individual with Dementia in their own home. This role is specifically NIGHT shifts, waking nights, being awake and alert with our Client for the full night shift duration. All applicants need to poses a full UK Driving Licence, and have their own car for work. We will not accept or proceed with any applications from any candidates whom need a visa or need a visa sponsorship to work more than 20 hours per week, as this role is a full time, permanent, contracted role.
Shift Pattern:
Full time role, on a set shift pattern with the following hours:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday 18:45 - 07:00
Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 18:45 - 07:00
Key Responsibilities:
To support our Client to live as independently and safely possible in their own home, providing personalised care and support, which focuses at all times on the Client's unique needs and preferences.
Support with personal care, showering, toileting needs, dressing and undressing, incontinence care, medication administration, hair care, oral care etc
To prepare home cooked meals, throughout the day, and work with the Client so they support and are engaged in cooking also, to encourage independence
Carry out weekly baking activities with the Client, making items such as cakes, biscuits etc
Create and maintain a safe environment at all times
To ensure that at all times, safe transfers are carried out, and the Client's fluctuating mobility is at the forefront of all moving and handling carried out throughout the day, with the equipment in place used where required
Engage in activities and conversation topics to stimulate cognitive function, promote wellbeing and support with dementia related activities.
Provide the highest standards of companionship throughout the day
Monitor and document all matters relating to the Client at all times, including changes in behaviour, health, cognitive functions
Support the Client, with a second Care Worker, to access the community, for day trips, outings, visiting favourite places and other locations of importance and choice.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a care setting with Clients with Dementia is essential for this role
Previous care experience, in home care is required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy and an understanding for those living with the challenges of Dementia in their own homes
Own car with full UK driving licence
We are ideally looking for candidates who hold a Level 2 Diploma/NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care for the role
This role is a full time role, with a permanent, full time Contract of Employment, any candidate who applies, must be able to work the hours, and shift pattern listed above. The position is working on-site in our Client's home, and all staff have to remain on shift for the full 12.25 hour shift, breaks are taken on-site for the Client's safety.
