Essential Car Documentation- This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.
The role holder will coordinate and contribute to the provision of a high quality service to support service users and promote their
independence ensuring service standards are achieved, maintained and improved.
The role holder will contribute to the positive engagement of service users with support services provided by both statutory and voluntary agencies, ensuring that they are appropriately supported and able to contribute positively to the community.
The role holder will assist with establishing and maintaining partnerships with a range of stakeholders and agencies in line with City Council policies and procedures.
The Allocations Support Team consists of 14 support workers who work GM wide to source suitable emergency hotel accommodation for both families and single applicants. The team will provide support to both families and singles currently accommodated in B&Bs and self-contained units of emergency accommodation. The team support service users to remove barriers to access accommodation through housing related support (HRS), in house TA, GMMH commissioned accommodation, capital leasing and RSAP. You will need to have a good understanding of what it takes to be a leader and effectively manage a team of support staff across a city and GM wide location.
You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, problem solving to identify placements for service users who we may struggle to find accommodation for, without multi professional working. You will need an excellent knowledge of safeguarding to ensure placements are suitable and remove barriers which can stop people accessing accommodation. You will need to have a good understanding of the different types of temporary accommodation accessible to applicants, and how we can work with services to negotiate placements. You will need to be able to demonstrate good partnership working with agencies such as Children's Services, Early Help, Schools, domestic violence organisations, ASBAT (Antisocial Behaviour Action Team), Neighbourhood Services, health, social care, and mental health services will be vital. You will be responsible for managing the support contract for the RSAP (rough sleeper accommodation programme) and NSAP (Next steps accommodation programme) properties MCC own and manage on behalf of registered social landlords. You will need to maintain excellent relationships with stake holders and registered social landlords to ensure applicants are sustaining their tenancies and if not, being responsive to resolve. You will be required to attend regular meetings with RSL with RSAP tenancies and commissioned partners to ensure all aspects of contractual agreements are being met.

About the Candidate You will have a good understanding of Homelessness, the service objectives and priorities.
You will ensure you are responsible for your own workload completing visits in a sensitive and timely manner to meet the needs of the service user.
You will be able to take ownership for resolving problems and take the initiative to work on your own to address issues that may arise.
You will be able to provide technical advice regarding the enforcement of relevant legislation adhering to relevant policies and procedures and working within set parameters.
Complete incident reports and be able to report unusual circumstances or situations that may have a negative impact on the environment along with the well-being of residents, visitors and businesses.
You must be able to maintain accurate records of investigations and inspections to ensure information produced can be relied upon to demonstrate performance and delivery.
