We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented
Homologation Engineer
to join our team in the
Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV)
sector. The successful candidate will ensure that all vehicles and components meet relevant legal, regulatory, and technical standards for global markets. You will play a pivotal role in supporting product development, certification processes, and market approvals.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all HGV products meet applicable national and international regulations (e.g., UNECE, EU Type Approval, UK VCA, DVSA, etc.).
Certification Management:
Coordinate type approval and certification activities for new vehicle models, modifications, and components.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare and maintain detailed homologation documentation, technical files, and conformity of production (CoP) evidence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with design, testing, quality, and manufacturing teams to align vehicle development with homologation requirements.
Regulatory Monitoring:
Stay updated on changes in relevant legislation and communicate impacts to the wider business.
Technical Support:
Act as a technical liaison during regulatory audits, testing activities, and approval processes with notified bodies and authorities.
Testing Coordination:
Oversee or support vehicle/component testing as required for certification (e.g., emissions, safety, braking, lighting, etc.).
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in homologation or regulatory compliance within the automotive or HGV sector.
Strong understanding of EU Type Approval, UNECE regulations, UK National Small Series Type Approval (NSSTA), and other relevant frameworks.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to interpret complex technical standards and legal requirements.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering tools (CAD, PLM, etc. is a plus).
Desirable Skills
Experience liaising with regulatory bodies (e.g., VCA, RDW, TUV).
Knowledge of CoP (Conformity of Production) processes.
Exposure to electric or alternative-fuel HGV homologation is a plus.
Multilingual (especially in EU languages) is advantageous.
