The Atrium Prison Counselling Service (APCS) provides brief term, solutions focused therapy to inmates across London as an integrated part of NHS mental health services.
APCS currently has vacancies for Trainee Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Counselling Psychologists who have experience (Minimum 150 supervised 121 hours clinical experience, and a minimum of 1 years personal therapy as part of your training) and/or a proven interest in working in Forensic settings. Previous experience of working in NHS or institutional settings is an advantage.
APCS Honorary Practitioner placements provide Trainees with the opportunity to work onsite, 1 day a week, seeing a maximum of three clients per week. Specialist training and fortnightly clinical supervision is provided by the placement, and trainees can also undertake their mental health familiarisation training as part of their placement.
Successful candidates will need to evidence their clinical training, experience, and ability to effectively manage risk. Excellent time management, the ability to multitask, work under pressure and have outstanding administration and organisational skills are also essential.
Minimum length of placement - 2 years.
