The Stores Person is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory of hospital supplies and equipment in a clean, safe, and organized environment. This role ensures that clinical and support departments have timely access to the materials they need to deliver high-quality patient care. Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to hospital standards are critical to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure accuracy and quality; report discrepancies or damaged items.
Accurately record and store supplies in designated areas following inventory procedures.
Pick and deliver stock to hospital departments based on requisitions and automated systems.
Maintain proper stock rotation and manage expiration dates, especially for medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock replenishment and order preparation.
Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, trolleys, and handheld scanners safely.
Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and security of all storage areas.
Assist with regular stocktaking, audits, and inventory reconciliation.
Maintain documentation and use inventory management software or systems (e.g., ERP, CMMS).
Communicate with suppliers, couriers, and hospital staff professionally and efficiently.
Comply with infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in a stores, warehouse, or inventory management role--ideally within a healthcare or hospital setting.
Familiarity with supply chain processes, stock control, and inventory systems.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory systems, barcode scanning).
Good organizational, numerical, and communication skills.
Physically fit and able to lift, move, and carry items (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to work independently or as part of a team under time-sensitive conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in warehousing, logistics, or supply chain management.
Experience using hospital-specific inventory systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Pyxis, Omnicell).
Knowledge of medical or surgical supplies terminology.
Working Conditions:
Hospital or warehouse environment with frequent walking, lifting, and standing.
Exposure to various supply types including sterile goods and medical equipment.
Must follow hospital health, safety, and infection control policies at all times.
