To provide a high-level of hospitality service in the Common Room Dining Room, the Common Room Bar and at all internal and external hospitality events, whilst all the time, ensuring that the operation of the Catering Hospitality Sub-Department of Marlborough College complies with current Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations as laid down by Marlborough College.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up and serving of at a variety of functions throughout the school ranging from Tea Coffee & Biscuits to Buffets and fine dining events.
Be an exemplary advocate of Marlborough College Hospitality and provide a high level of client service, ensuring that the highest standard of uniform and appearance is displayed during periods of duty.
Setting up the Common Room for breakfast and morning break service.
Ensure that the Common Room Dining Room is set up for meetings and functions as directed by the Hospitality Manager.
Maintain the cleanliness of the Hospitality areas, including the Common Room Bar, Dining Room, Masters Lodge Kitchen, Hospitality Servery, storerooms and all other associated areas.
Ensure areas are sufficiently stocked to meet demand.
Assist other catering areas where required in line with business needs including Summer School
Have an interest in a high-end food service, ranging from Hight Tea to Gala Dinners
Supporting the Hospitality Manager and Hospitality Chef during events, ensuring standards of service are maintained and issues are dealt with promptly and in a calm manner
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, teachers, pupils and external clients at all levels
To be able to act with initiative and forward plan for events, being pro active in completing tasks and have the desire to improve your knowledge and abilities through on-going hospitality training and development
Attend regular event planning meeting and support the Hospitality Manager and Hospitality Chef in line with business needs.
Work in Norwood Hall as a General Catering assistant and other catering areas as required.
Use COSHH materials safely and in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
Ensure all areas within your responsibility are left clean and tidy at the end of each shift in accordance with end-of-day and post-meal routines.
Correctly compile the Common Room HACCP log and ensure you are fully conversant in the correct HACCP procedure.
Comply with all Department Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations.
Own transport is essential due to the business needs being out of regular working hours
Additional Duties
The nature of your role will at times require you to work additional hours in order to meet the catering operational requirements of the College. Overtime will be paid at the rate of time and a half or TOIL, and will be agreed with the Hospitality Manager in advance
