Tamper is a well-established New Zealand-inspired eatery, proudly serving Sheffield since 2011. Just a 5-minute walk from the train and bus station, we're a busy cafe known for our specialty coffee, innovative brunch menus, and vibrant team culture. We're open 7 days a week, and host occasional evening events.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role. You'll be the key driver of daily operations, team performance, and customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the FOH and Barista teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training
- Running a smooth and efficient service during high-volume periods
- Delivering exceptional customer experiences and setting the tone for your team
- Managing rotas (4 weeks in advance) and daily service operations
- Monitoring KPIs including sales, staffing levels, and team performance
- Overseeing stock rotation, ordering, and wastage reporting
- Cash handling, POS systems, and basic financial reporting
- Ensuring compliance with EHO, health & safety, and licensing requirements
- Supporting the planning and delivery of events and special services
- Championing our brand standards, culture, and commitment to excellence
What We're Looking For
You're a natural leader who brings energy, structure, and confidence to the team. You thrive under pressure, love a busy service, and know how to get the best from your crew. You'll also need:
- At least 3-5 years previous management experience in a high-volume hospitality setting
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- A passion for exceptional customer service
- Great communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Confidence using POS systems and basic IT/software tools
- Knowledge of compliance, licensing, and health & safety standards
- Flexibility to work weekends and some evenings
