This is a developing role within our company: meaning the successful candidate will have creative freedom within the role. Recent renovations included a large outdoor terrace, public restaurant and cafe, and modernising the large function suite. We are looking for a candidate who can maximise the potential of our new spaces.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Hospitality
professional who will be given full freedom to revamp our PR and to suggest and execute new event ideas, whilst also ensuring our relationships with our current vendors and customers are maintained.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to share our passion for all thing's hospitality, whilst working with our established functions that include a large rugby union community and the recent rehoming of Newcastle Thunder rugby league to Blaydon RFC. This is an exciting prospect for individual to lead and develop an existing team, and grow the team capabilities as hospitality is redefined and our business model changes.
The right person will be focussed on providing high quality customer service and creating memorable guest experiences. The ideal candidate will have a positive, can do attitude and be willing to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of our hospitality, managing our food offerings, conference/function rooms and bars, and be able to promote and develop the facilities and offerings.
Responsibilities Include
Business development:
Promotes the business on a daily basis, take control of the club's Hospitality related PR for Bar, Events & Functions - including Social Media, branding, advertising events, working with Communications Manager and other sections of the club
Developing and promoting events to develop additional business ideas and increase footfall; Theme nights, etc.
Optimising revenue generation within events arena
Defining what services we deliver and how
Defines Customer Service model
Oversees planning for events, working with ground events committee
Define inventory stock levels of food & beverages
Job satisfaction of staff, as well as the financial success of the establishment.
Take full responsibility for all events - including Weddings, Match Days, Viewing Parties,
Utilise our current facilities to create events for our community
Operations:
Directs and oversees other staff members to make sure daily operations align with the direction of the company
Manages the customer service aspect of the business and can step in when a customer is unhappy with the outcome of an interaction
Responsibility for the financial success of the bar/functions
Face of Blaydon RFC for arranging functions and selling add-ons: Photo booth, Room dressing, etc.
Monitor and optimise food sales and beverage costs.
Initiates and maintains vendor relationships.
Dealing with customers feedback and providing adequate solutions to customer complaints
Oversee cleanliness of staff and physical areas, paying special attention to possible health hazards and code violations
Health and safety
Define Opening and closing times of the business
Define controls for day to day operations
Pays close attention to all operational details to ensure the comfort, safety and enjoyment of guests
Client engagement for functions
Management of all bar and hospitality staff
Staff selection/recruitment etc.
Define staff measures and monitor performance
Measures:
Bar, Food & Events turnover & profitability
Function room utilisation
Growth of day time utilisation; Conferencing, etc.
Customer Feedback; 90% rating on Google and Facebook
Reporting:
Reports directly to Chair of House , who is accountable to the Club Executive Committee.
Requirements
Knowledge of hospitality industry with a minimum of 3 years in similar role
Experienced at managing effect teams, a natural leader and motivator, with the ability to train and develop a great team
Creative and passionate about hospitality
Experienced with managing and arranging entertainment, live music and events.
A can-do, problem-solving attitude
Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
Customer-oriented approach, with the desire to create an atmosphere where all our customers feel comfortable
Organised and obsessively attentive to detail
Have an eye for opportunity with scope to enhance and improve on our existing offering
A hands-on manager, at ease delegating, capable of stepping in and supporting bar staff at short term peak periods while onsite
Familiar with point-of-sale software
Extensive working knowledge of bar and restaurant industry.
Knowledge of regulations related to alcohol service and health code compliance
Competency in resource management and inventory control
Ability to work under pressure and have excellent time management.
