The primary role of our Hosts is identical to everyone who works with Wild Oak Group - to
Make People's Day
(both guests and team). Our Hosts are similar to a Duty Manager - they are committed to providing exceptional hospitality which will ensure that guests have a pleasant and memorable stay and empowered to make decisions. The Host role is a critical role in the business as you are likely to be the guest's first impression of the business, and you need to ensure they feel welcome and well informed about the hotel's amenities and the local attractions. The location of the hotel is literally on the beautiful seafront of Weymouth with the town centre literally behind the hotel.
The role of Host is varied and requires you to carry out numerous tasks but you can be sure the checking in and out of guests and the serving of drink and food will be top of the list. In the quieter, winter months, you will prepare some very simple food dishes as well but we will show you the ropes!
The role will also requires you to help maintain the cleanliness and presentation standards in public areas. You will be the face of our hotel, interacting with guests and handling their enquiries promptly and professionally. Daily tasks also include taking bookings and payments, answering the phone and emails, assigning tasks for the housekeepers, checking the bedrooms have been serviced to standard - as well as dealing with the unexpected! A significant aspect of this position is your ability to prioritise, and react flexibly to the fast-paced environment of our hotels. There are two shifts for the Host role - Early shift is usually 7.30am to 3.00pm and Late shift is 2.00pm to 9.30pm. However, these times do vary especially during the summer season; with the driving factor being the guest experience i.e. if we know somebody would like a drink when they come in after their meal, we need to make sure the bar is open for them. Applicants must have some flexibility as we are unable to guarantee the same shift on a permanent basis although we will endeavour to honour any requests where the needs of the business allow.
