Fashion at Middlesex University has a well-respected heritage in practice and research across the disciplines of the fashion industry, with many alumni enjoying successful careers in leading international fashion houses or founding their own labels. The Fashion programmes also maintain established relationships with the fashion communication and marketing industries.


Middlesex University has invested heavily in state-of-the-art studio and workshop facilities, and fashion students work alongside many other Visual Arts, Design, Performing Arts and Media cohorts in a dynamic community within the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries.


The Design Department is looking to appoint an hourly paid academic to join the Fashion Directorate as an hourly paid lecturer in Fashion Marketing. The role typically will be held by an experienced practitioner and academic with an understanding of the fast-changing landscape of fashion marketing.


Suitable candidates will have knowledge and experience of emerging industry practices and technologies and should be passionate about supporting students to create excellent design work and committed to pedagogies of equality, diversity and inclusion.


The rate of pay is 59.33 per hour for each hour of contact teaching. This rate is 2.5 x the basic rate which is derived from the first spinal point of Middlesex's Grade 7 (Lecturer), with a yearly increment if the work continues beyond one year. For each term there is a further two weeks of pay at the basic rate for each nominal contact hour to cover end of term assessment.

Appointments are a maximum of 12 weeks per year, depending on need, with the option of joining the university's pension scheme.


Hourly rates depend on the type of activity, with teaching generally paid at the enhanced rates.
