Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook nutritious meals
for children and staff, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Plan balanced menus
that cater to a variety of dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences, in consultation with care staff and children where appropriate.
Maintain a clean, organised kitchen
, ensuring all food is stored safely and all equipment is kept in good working order.
Manage the food budget
efficiently, sourcing ingredients responsibly and ensuring all meals are provided within allocated resources.
Support children's independence
by involving them in age-appropriate kitchen tasks and promoting healthy eating habits.
Work collaboratively
with care staff to ensure meal times are positive, social experiences for all children.
Maintain accurate records
of food safety checks, temperature logs, and allergen information in line with regulatory requirements.
Participate in safeguarding training
and uphold the highest standards of child protection and confidentiality at all times.
Experience & Qualifications
Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate
(required).
Previous experience in a kitchen, care, or school environment is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of food safety, nutrition, and allergy management.
Experience working with children or young people is an asset.
Ability to work flexibly, adapt to changing needs, and remain calm under pressure.
