Job Purpose:
To ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for children and young people living in the home, with a primary responsibility for preparing and cooking nutritious meals. The role supports the overall well-being of the children by maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food preparation.
Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation & Cooking
?Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and balanced meals in accordance with dietary requirements, allergies, cultural needs, and preferences of the children. ?Ensure portion control, food safety, and storage practices are followed. ?Maintain kitchen hygiene and comply with food safety and hygiene regulations. ?Shop for groceries or manage food stock levels and supplies as required.
Domestic Duties
?Adhering to strict COSHH regulations, maintain cleanliness throughout the home, including communal areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry areas. ?Carry out regular cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitising. ?Assist with laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, and sorting clothes and bedding. ?Report any health and safety concerns or maintenance issues promptly.
Child-Focused Support
?Engage positively and respectfully with children and young people when appropriate. ?Be sensitive to the emotional and physical needs of the children while maintaining professional boundaries. ?Support the team in creating a nurturing and safe home environment.
Requirements: Essential:
?Experience in cooking meals for groups, including children. ?Understanding of basic nutrition and dietary needs. ?Knowledge of cleaning procedures and health & safety regulations. ?Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ?Good time management and organizational skills. ?Understanding of safeguarding and child protection. ?Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above).
Desirable:
?Experience in a care, residential, or childcare setting.
Additional Information:
?The role may require flexible working hours, including weekends or bank holidays. ?An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required. ?Training and ongoing support will be provided.
