Overall Job Purpose

The parish of St Swithun Wells, Eastleigh, is seeking to appoint a part-time Housekeeper to work 5 - 6 hours per week.

Working at the Holy Cross, Presbytery, 53 Leigh Road, Eastleigh, SO50 9DF. Role purpose: To provide domestic and catering services to the priests.

Hours of work: Part time 5 - 6 hours per week, ideally Tuesday & Friday mornings with flexibility to suit, which can be negotiated at interview.

Employees working in parishes are formally employed by the Diocese of Portsmouth and must comply with all diocesan policies and procedures, as well as those related to local arrangements specifically authorised by the Parish Priest.

Main Duties

Shopping for household items including food Preparing and cooking meals for priests Clearing and tidying up after preparation of meals Cleaning the Presbytery Laundry and ironing for clergy

Housekeeper - Person Specification

Competence, Expertise and Knowledge:

No formal qualifications are required but general housekeeping experience and ability to prepare and cook food hygienically is essential.

You must have a valid UK Right to Work, as the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth does not offer UK Visa Sponsorship.

Personal attributes

The postholder is expected to be reliable, flexible and have a professional approach. Tact and discretion, respect confidentiality in the Presbytery. Motivated, able to work on own initiative, high integrity with good communication skills. Sympathetic to the ministry and mission of the Catholic Church.
