Annualised hours 1,248, averaging 24 hours per week.

Job Summary


The Housekeeping Assistants are responsible for ensuring that the accommodation and public areas are cleaned and maintained to a high standard, contributing to a positive and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. The role involves daily cleaning duties, stock control, laundry services, and assisting in maintaining the general cleanliness of the centre. The Housekeeping Assistant plays an essential role in delivering a high-quality service to guests, ensuring that rooms, communal areas, and facilities meet the centre's cleanliness standards.

This role is offered on an annualised hours basis, meaning your working pattern may vary throughout the year in line with operational needs. However, you will receive the same amount of pay each month, providing consistency and stability regardless of seasonal fluctuations in hours worked.

Key Responsibilities



Day-to-Day Housekeeping Operations:

Perform cleaning duties to ensure all rooms and public areas are cleaned to the required standard. Clean and sanitise bathrooms, bedrooms, corridors, and communal areas, ensuring that all surfaces are maintained to high standards. Ensure that rooms are restocked with essential items such as toiletries, towels, and linen.

Compliance and Documentation:

Adhere to all health and safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring a safe and clean environment for staff and guests. Complete cleaning checklists to ensure all tasks are done to the required standard. Maintain proper records of cleaning supplies, ensuring that stock levels are consistently maintained.

Stock Control & Laundry Services:

Assist with the management of linen, towels, and cleaning materials, ensuring stock levels are adequate. Sort and launder bed linens, towels, and other textiles as required. Report any issues with stock to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Team Collaboration & Communication:

Work as part of the housekeeping team to ensure the efficient running of the department. Communicate effectively with the Housekeeping Supervisor and other departments to ensure a smooth operation. Be proactive in offering assistance to other team members when required.

Health and Safety:

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all areas of the centre. Use cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines. Report any health and safety hazards or issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor or management team.

Guest Satisfaction:

Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring all guest accommodation is clean, comfortable, and ready for use. Respond to guest requests for additional items or services promptly and courteously.

Absence Management:

Ensure all absence and holiday requests are reported to the Housekeeping Supervisor and recorded accurately.

Cost Control and Budgeting:

Ensure cleaning supplies are used efficiently and cost-effectively. Report any discrepancies or overuse of stock to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Emergency and Contingency Planning:

Be prepared to assist in emergency situations such as room changes, urgent cleaning tasks, or other operational needs.

Sustainability Initiatives:


o Support sustainable practices, including reducing energy use, water consumption, and waste.

o Contribute to reducing the centre's environmental impact by following guidelines for eco-friendly cleaning and disposal methods.

General Maintenance and Repairs:


o Assist in identifying maintenance issues within rooms and public areas, reporting them to the relevant team for repair.

o Ensure that all cleaning materials are safely stored and well-maintained.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Qualifications and Training:


Essential:



Experience in a similar housekeeping or cleaning role. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and procedures. Health and Safety training relevant to housekeeping and cleaning duties.

Desirable:



First Aid certificate. Experience working in a hospitality or outdoor centre environment. Knowledge of eco-friendly and sustainable cleaning practices.

Experience and Knowledge:


Essential:



Proven experience in cleaning and housekeeping, ideally in a commercial or hospitality setting. Ability to follow instructions and work to a high standard of cleanliness. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning.

Desirable:



Experience in hospitality or customer-facing environments. Experience using cleaning machinery and equipment.
