Do you take pride in spotless rooms, well-organised teams and a smooth-running operation?
At
Apollo Hotel Birmingham
(126 bedrooms, conference & banqueting, minutes from the city centre), we're looking for a
Housekeeping Supervisor
to help lead our small, friendly, owner-managed housekeeping team.
Because we're an independently owned, single-site hotel, this is a genuinely hands-on supervisory role - you'll be both
leading the team
and
working alongside them on the floors
, making sure every guest enjoys a clean, comfortable and pleasant stay.
What you'll be doing
Working closely with the Head Housekeeper / Management and your team of Room Attendants, you will:
Supervise the day-to-day housekeeping operation
, ensuring bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors and public areas are cleaned to hotel standards.
Allocate daily room lists and tasks
, brief the team at the start of each shift and monitor progress throughout the day.
Carry out
room and area inspections
, checking for cleanliness, presentation, maintenance issues and guest readiness, and rectifying any shortcomings.
Support the team hands-on
by cleaning rooms and public areas when required, especially at busy times or to cover absence.
Ensure
bed linen, towels, guest amenities and cleaning supplies
are correctly used, replenished and stored, minimising wastage.
Oversee and help with
deep-cleaning schedules
(e.g. curtains, high dusting, descaling, soft furnishings, carpets and mattresses).
Report and follow up on maintenance issues
, missing or damaged furniture and faulty equipment, liaising with Maintenance and Management as needed.
Make sure
lost property procedures
are followed accurately and that all items found are logged and handed over in line with policy.
Help manage
stock levels
of linen, amenities and cleaning products, ensuring storerooms and linen cupboards are tidy, organised and secure.
Handle and support the team with
guest requests and complaints
in a timely, polite and professional manner.
Ensure full compliance with
hotel security, fire regulations and all Health & Safety requirements
, including safe use and storage of chemicals (COSHH).
Coach, support and motivate Room Attendants
, helping to train new starters, reinforce standards and give constructive feedback.
Work closely with
Reception and other departments
to coordinate early check-ins, late check-outs, special requests and group arrivals.
You'll be a key link between Management and the housekeeping team, helping to maintain high standards while keeping the operation calm, organised and guest focused.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a confident, organised and hands-on supervisor who leads by example and takes pride in both standards and team spirit.
You will ideally have:
Previous hotel housekeeping experience
, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or senior room attendant role(or similar).
A strong
eye for detail
and high standards for cleanliness, presentation and guest readiness.
Proven ability to
organise workloads
, allocate tasks and ensure rooms and public areas are completed on time.
Experience in
checking rooms and public areas
and providing clear, fair feedback to team members.
Good communication skills
- able to liaise confidently with colleagues across departments and deal politely and professionally with guests.
The ability to
work efficiently and manage a busy workload
, especially during peak times.
Flexibility to work on any day of the week
, including weekends and bank holidays, with early starts and/or late finishes as required.
An understanding of
Health & Safety, COSHH and safe cleaning practices
(training can be refreshed or enhanced as needed).
A positive, supportive attitude - someone who is reliable, leads by example and helps build a friendly, hard-working team culture.
What we offer
A
part-time role
in a well-established, busy 3-star independent hotel.
Competitive salary
(depending on experience and skills).
Performance-related bonus
opportunities.
Employee discounts on bedroom rates
.
Discounts on Food & Beverage
in the hotel.
Company pension scheme
.
Employee financial assistance scheme
(details discussed at interview).
Free uniform
and structured on-the-job training.
A supportive, close-knit team where you're known by name, not a number, and where your contribution and leadership are noticed every day.

You must be able to
prove your eligibility to live and work in the UK
