Role Overview
The role of the Housekeeper Supervisor is to supervise all aspects of the Hall and Estates cleaning services in conjunction with the Housekeeper Manager. The Housekeeper supervisor will have managerial duties on the occasion when the Housekeeper Manager is away from the Hall and Estates' sites.
The Housekeeper Supervisor will ensure exceptional guest experiences and efficient cleaning operations within the hotel, lodge, conference areas and the public areas (Hall and Estates).
Will ensure that all the time, health and safety and departmental procedures are complied with.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide supervision, cleaning and housekeeping services across Madingley Hall Estates (this includes but not limited to: Madingley Hall, Hotel bedrooms, conference areas and all public/communal areas), whilst providing help and support to the Housekeeper Manager with matters concerning trainings new starters, cleaning and supervise the smooth running of the housekeeping department.
The Housekeeper Supervisor will occasionally have managerial duties when the Housekeeper Manager is off site. The Housekeeper Supervisor will ensure the housekeeping codes and standards are maintained to a sufficient level at any time.
Key responsibilities
Supervise a team of housekeeping staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Clean and prepare allocated areas, (bedrooms, conference rooms, offices, public areas) to meet the agreed standard of cleaning and presentation within a set timeframe
Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
Undertake cleaning duties. Maintain a cleaning schedule for all cleaning activities, small budget and oversee the ordering of cleaning materials, receive and sign for incoming cleaning and maintenance supplies, order new cleaning equipment in consultation with line manager, spot clean public areas including toilets, deal with spillages as required.
Supervise housekeeping staff in their cleaning, portering and restoking duties to ensure work is carried out to a satisfactory standard, ensure the building(s) is/are clean and well maintained, ensure all public areas are cleaned. Organise the day-to-day routine of the housekeeping team, assign additional or periodical jobs as necessary.
Ensure that safety rules and regulations are observed. Check that risk assessments for potential hazards have been completed. Carry out risk assessments (in conjunction with the Housekeeper Manager) for work undertaken by housekeeping staff, ensure cleaning products are stored correctly and COSHH risk assessments completed and kept up to date.
Maintain service records. Ensure that equipment is serviced as necessary.
Liaise and report with the Property, Estates and Safety Manager concerning minor work, improvements, repairs and renewals, in consultation with the line manager (Housekeeping Manager) communicate to those affected by the plans.
Liaise with Front of House Team (Guest Services Manager) and Food and Beverage Manager for allocation of rooms for all events e.g. lectures, seminars, conferences, and ensure conference rooms and bedrooms are set up as required.
Undertake training of housekeeping staff and occasionally agency staff. Induct new colleagues, train staff in all aspects of the role e.g. technical procedures, cleaning and use of equipment, organise training, particularly training on fire safety, use of chemicals, use of ladders and lifting heavy equipment.
Follow the Hall policies and procedures related to housekeeping, and services. Suggest any necessary implementation and raise any concern related to health and safety.
Follow and uphold all the departmental SOP.
Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction by resolving complaints and issues promptly.
Qualifications
Experience of supervising custodial/cleaning staff
Strong knowledge of rooms operations, including housekeeping, property management systems and guest services.
Proven supervising abilities with a track record of leading teams to achieve high levels of performance.
Skills
IT skills (ex. Operational software)
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational and time management skills
Demonstrate knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts of Housekeeping Work
Qualifications
GCSE level including English and Mathematics/NVQ level 2 or equivalent level of practical experience
Additional Requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required by business needs.
