The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking a dynamic and experienced Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Team Leader to join our Private Housing & Environmental Health Standards team. This is a great opportunity to head a team that works hard to improve shared housing across the borough.

About the Role
As the HMO Team Leader, you'll be at the forefront of our mission to raise standards in shared housing. You'll lead a team of professional officers, overseeing the delivery of HMO licensing, inspections, and enforcement. Your leadership will be key in ensuring that our residents live in safe, well-managed homes.
You'll be responsible for:
Managing and motivating a team of up to 10, setting clear priorities and performance standards.
Leading on the operational delivery of HMO licensing and enforcement.
Developing and implementing strategies to tackle rogue landlords and improve housing conditions.
Acting as the Royal Borough's subject matter expert on HMOs, providing guidance to colleagues, landlords, tenants and external partners.
Representing the Royal Borough at tribunals, court proceedings and public meetings.
Using data and intelligence to drive proactive enforcement and service improvements.

What we are looking for?
We're looking for a passionate housing professional with:
In-depth knowledge of private sector housing, HMO legislation and licensing requirements.
A relevant qualification and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or Chartered Institute of Housing)
Proven experience in managing HMO inspections, enforcement, and legal proceedings.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
A commitment to equality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
A full driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle are essential for this role.
