An exciting opportunity has arisen with Restart Housing in Birmingham for a Housing Benefits Administrator to start immediately.

Are you a methodical and organised individual, who can work under pressure and perform their tasks to best of their ability?

You will be working as part of the Housing Administration and Office management team. The role will be based at ReStart Housing Head Office and may require some travelling within Birmingham for training and compliance.

ReStart Housing are looking for a dynamic individual who has a sincere passion for wanting to care and support vulnerable adults from an administrative setting. You will be part of existing and dynamic team of administrators who ensure that all the housing admin is managed and maintained to the highest level and completed with in a specific time frame.



Including but not limited to:



Housing Benefit Claims



Universal Credit



License Agreements



Proof of Income



The right candidate will be enthusiastic and conscientious, who has excellent attention to detail. Excellent Data Entry experience and a professional telephone manner as you will be liaising with local authority. Coupled with excellent organisational and time management skills. Highly self-motivated and able to motivate others.



You will be working closely with the Director and will be reporting directly to the Directors.

Person Specification:



A willingness to want to learn and work with vulnerable adults housing benefit claims Previous housing admin experience would be advantageous Excellent Clear Communication skills Excellent Organisational skills Able to work in a fast paced and rewarding environment Excellent Written skills To be able to work as part of a collaborated team and on their own initiative. To be able to work to tight deadlines. Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel

Role Specification:



As a Housing Administrator you will be working as part of an existing housing administration team who ensure that all aspects of the housing administration is managed and maintained. Your role will be divided into many administrative housing categories, they will include the following, but will not be limited to them:

General Office Admin/Duties



Answering all incoming calls and dealing with all housing benefit queries in a timely fashion Completing Housing Benefit applications on behalf of new residents Daily/Weekly telephone calls to local authority to ensure claims are received and active Sending all relevant documentation to local authority in support of the claims for the residents Liaising with residents and support staff to ensure you have all the relevant information Logging all resident resident information across different social landlords Liaising with local authority and social landlords to ensure all compliance is up to date and followed thoroughly Maintaining all office admin filing, files, equipment, service user/tenant files Ensuring all office amenities are maintained with the team Keeping all support documentation and paperwork readily available for front line staff - ie sign up packs, support paperwork etc Attending weekly admin team meetings to ensure all colleagues are updated Liaising with the directors regularly to keep them up to date with the claims etc Reporting directly to the Directors of the company

Referrals Administration



Deal with all incoming service user referrals

Deal with all relevant paperwork ie Referral Forms and Risk Assessments ensure all is completed by the referring agency

Liaise with relevant housing support staff to set up sign up at relevant ReStart property

Manage the referral process with client, tenant and support staff until sign up is completed and packs are returned

Housing Benefit/Sign Up Packs Administration



Upload all new tenant/service user sign up packs on to the housing benefit system

Ensure all proof is uploaded to the sign up packs

Ensure all tenants/service users are in housing benefit payment

Regularly liaise with the local authority regarding housing benefit queries

Maintain monthly tenant/service user housing benefit spreadsheet with external RSL's

Be part of the bi-weekly housing benefit calls

Tenant/User Liaison Administration



Vacate letters

Warning letters

Service charge letters

Qualifications/Experience:



Experience in the support of vulnerable adults, homeless people or people with substance misuse needs. Knowledge of providing support to adults who have suffered domestic violence or abuse. Knowledge of Housing benefit and Council tax claims for the service user will be desirable Experience of working within a challenging housing and support environment. Knowledge of supported housing paperwork and processes

Pay: 22,222.22-22,500.00 per year
