We're looking for a dedicated Housing Improvement Officer to join our team and help deliver the Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) Service.


What You'll Do



Conduct site and house visits, surveys, and inspections of properties. Support and develop tenders and procurement frameworks for housing projects. Evaluate DFG applications, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Liaise with Occupational Therapists and external bodies to assess needs and recommend adaptations. Maintain accurate electronic case files and ensure compliance with council policies. Supervise contractors, monitor quality, and authorise payments. Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, architects, and other agencies. Prepare reports and briefing notes as required.

What We're Looking For



Ability to carry out property inspections, supervise works, and prepare schedules to strict deadlines. Working knowledge of housing legislation, building regulations, and technical processes relating to Disabled Facilities Grants. Understanding of health & safety procedures in construction. Strong numeric, verbal, and written communication skills. Background in customer-oriented environments, especially with vulnerable customers.
