Housing Advice Officer

, on a

3-month contract

Summary:



We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced

Housing Advice Officer

to join the Housing team ?in Caerphilly?. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering statutory homelessness services in line with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014. The postholder will provide comprehensive housing advice and assistance to residents, assess and investigate housing need, make legal homelessness decisions, and manage a caseload from initial contact through to resolution.

This role requires

direct experience within a local authority Homelessness Team

, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals.

Responsibilities:



Assess housing needs and make legal homelessness decisions under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014. Investigate applications, gather evidence, and carry out enquiries in line with statutory duties. Provide housing advice and assistance to individuals at risk of homelessness. Manage a caseload of complex housing cases, prioritising work to meet statutory deadlines. Explore and deliver practical solutions to prevent and relieve homelessness.

Requirements:



Direct work experience within a

local authority Homelessness Team

. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in applying

Homelessness Legislation (Housing Wales Act 2014)

. Experience in managing a caseload and making legal homelessness decisions. Strong background in providing housing advice and assistance. Proven ability to assess housing needs and make appropriate referrals.
