Housing Support Worker (fixed Term, Maternity Cover 1 Year)

Job Description

Job Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team of dedicated, professional and values-led Housing & Support Workers. You will work within DASH's Short-term Supported Accommodation provision for single male and females aged 18+. You will work on a shift basis covering weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. You will also be on the rota to cover out of hours emergency on call, for which an extra weekly supplement is paid.

You will provide excellent person-centred support and enhanced housing management services to our residents. You will provide help and empathy to residents with multiple support needs, which can include mental health issues, domestic violence, exploitation, substance misuse, poor physical health, and housing related support needs.

Main Responsibilities:



Service Delivery



Under the guidance and with training from your Service Manager, you will deliver support which will include:

Completing face to face needs based Assessments with potential residents, assessing eligibility for DASH properties based on their support needs and risk. Creating flexible and tailored Support Plans according to residents' individual needs and delivering this support in a person-centred and psychologically informed way. Completing robust client risk assessments and carrying out regular risk assessment reviews. Working collaboratively with other agencies to gain best outcomes for residents, including moving on to independent accommodation when ready. Assisting residents to arrange appointments and support them to attend these where necessary. Referring/Signposting to other services as appropriate, helping residents reach their life goals.

Safeguarding & Health and Safety



Attend mandatory training needed to deliver effective Safeguarding for Adults. Working closely with colleagues and your Line Manager, identify and escalate safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Lead where necessary. Follow and promote Lone Working safer practices and ensure the safety of yourselves and your team by using your Orbis Protect device and adhering to DASHs Lone Working policy and procedure.

Housing Management



Completing full inductions with new residents including property viewings, move-in paperwork, and orientations. Undertake Housing Management responsibilities to DASH properties, ensuring void levels are kept to a minimum and premises are ready for occupation. Includes cleaning duties in order ensure timely void turnaround. Carrying out weekly Health & Safety checks and report any repairs, maintenance as and when required. Assist residents to ensure their accommodation is kept to a good standard of cleanliness and repair, promoting Health, Safety and Security. Assist residents with practical, daily living tasks to help develop their independence and achieve their aspirations and goals. Support and work alongside residents to comply with their tenancy obligations as detailed in their Licence Agreement and Conditions of Tenancy, to prevent any evictions

Teamwork



Develop trusting and secure working relationships with colleagues, sharing knowledge, information and expertise, and working together to deliver high quality services. Attend and participate in team meetings to ensure good communications and liaison with colleagues. Prepare for and attend supervision and appraisal sessions with your Line Manager, taking direction as appropriate and contributing to the development of both yourself, and the service.

General



Following training, undertake administrative duties using DASHs CRM and other core systems. Ensure information is recorded accurately, promptly and is up to date in line with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting purposes and ensuring an accurate overview of the service. Maintain confidentiality of records and comply with data protections requirements regarding personal data of colleagues and clients alike. Uphold and develop DASH Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy of anti-discriminatory practices across all services. Observe and ensure compliance with DASHs organisational policies and procedures. Work flexibly across all DASH services as required to meet the needs of the business. Be prepared to undertake training and development as identified and agreed in consultation with your Line Manager, relevant to your post.

Qualifications



No specific vocational qualifications required - it is most important of all to possess a caring and empathetic personality, good active listening skills and a calm and clear communication style. Systems and procedures training will be provided. Good written communication skills using MS office. Ideally some experience working with vulnerable adults and individuals who present challenging behaviour. An ability to make a difference with enthusiasm to advocate and make representations for a vulnerable adult. Ability to work within organisational policies and procedures Training provided to fulfil the role to a high standard of competence with a commitment required to fulfil your own learning and development.
